How long have you been DJ’ing for Hed Kandi and how did you first get on board with them?
"8 months."
What does the brand mean to you?
"Everything, it’s the ultimate DJ job for me. While growing up and dreaming of being a superstar DJ, LOL, Hed Kandi was the dream job for me!! Can’t believe I am doing it, I am very lucky."
What’s your favourite Hed Kandi album or series, and why?
"Umm, tough one… I love the Disco Kandi series.. although all the albums have their own little special something! I cant pick just one."
Give us your first impressions of the Hed Kandi Beach Bar venue?
‘’Wow!! I cant believe I am playing here!! Fantastic!
Red Sea on one side…. hundreds of kandi-loving fans on the other!!
Hard to beat."
With Ministry of Sound Red Sea and Hed Kandi Beach Bar both running successfully in Hurghada, Egypt – do you think we could be talking about a serious clubbing destination, either at present or in the near future? If so what else is required?
"I think so, its defiantly a place I would go for a clubbing holiday. Its got two great venues along with all the great sight-seeing opportunities of Egypt. A Ministry of Sound hotel would be a fantastic edition to the club and beach bar."
What was the team at Hed Kandi Beach Bar like?
"Great, all the team went out of their way and made me and the hubbi feel like superstars."
How was the actual club-night you played at?
"In my top 5 of the year!! The atmosphere was amazing and the venue is stunning."
What tunes got the biggest reactions on the night?
"WORK VS ZOOKEY
AXWELL – I FOUND YOU
DAVID GUETTA – LOVE IS GONE
SHAOLIN MASTER – FRIENDS
IDA CORR – LET ME THINK ABOUT IT
LIQUID – SWEET HARMONY"
How did the crowd differ from the normal clientele? Their response, musical preferences etc?
"The crowd were very responsive, They liked it quite commercial…. As you can see from the big tracks of the night. They faced the DJ stand all night and had hands in the air constantly. Great stuff!!"
Which are you best three clubbing cities / countries worldwide, and why?
"Ibiza – People / venues / atmosphere
Egypt – fantastic venues with stunning surroundings
Manchester – There’s no place like home!!"
Best gig of all time, either as a DJ / punter, and why?
"As a punter I loved going to these big rave type things in Manchetser at Bowlers! 6000 people, 10 djs and the walzters outside!! Loved it!!
As a DJ… I cant pick just one…. My first gig for Hed Kandi was in Bournmouth at The Old Firestation. The crowd were different then I was used to…bloody great!! They had come to see Hed Kandi DJs and listen the Hed Kandi music… not just get hammered.
Egypt is a place I had always wanted to go and then to DJ there aswell was a dream come true!! I cant say enough good things about the place."
Can you tell us some of your musical influences?
"Growing up Micheal Jackson and Madonna tracks were always booming out of my stereo, then I got into Hardcore, Drum & bass and House. DJs that inspired me to become a DJ were Stu Allen and Greame Park. Today I am greatly influenced by the other Hed Kandi DJs, David Dunne in particular has given me the confidence to be the DJ I am today."
Future events and projects in the pipeline?
"Lots more Hed Kandi hopefully, I also launched my own brand in September 07 called ‘Risqué’."
