DJ Mario Patrick

Having been totally immersed in the dance music scene for almost 15 now, Mario Patrick aka Magnetic DJ, has consistently been pushing his talents for musical creativity through his DJ career, artistic talents in design work and as a promoter within the industry.

Early influences such as Carl Cox, Joey Beltram and Goldie paved the way for what was to come for the young music enthusiast. Progressing via the Drum & Bass medium, Mr Patrick, then known as Magnetic DJ, played with some of the world’s finest including legends such as; Fabio & Grooverider (BBC Radio 1), LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad (Progression Sessions), Nicky Blackmarket, Mickey Finn, Darren Jay, Kenny Ken, Andy C and Brazil’s DJ Marky to name check a few.

Clearly a major highlight of Magnetic DJ’s career was an exclusive back-2-back with none-other than living pioneer Goldie! Originally booked to warm-up for the D&B genius MP tried his luck asked for a back-2-back session, the session was granted and Mario got to spin alongside one of his main influences...

Regular DJ slots in and around the south coast of Brighton and London city, led to the natural overlapping between promotion and DJing. Assisting with promotional campaigns for some of Brighton’s leading nights like ‘Legends of the Dark Black’ at The Zap Club, Event II and the Beach Club, ‘Blow’ with DJ Darren Jay at the renowned Audio Club, and also the infamous Essential Festival.

Further headline artists sharing the bill with Mario have included urban-heads like the Artful Dodger, MJ Cole, Lisa Mafia, Roll Deep, Rampage, and Ras Kwame. After having mastered much of the underground D&B / break-beat genres, the next few years saw him maturing musically and toying with the house scene alongside developing his skills as a freelance graphic designer.

Three years on and now DJ Mario Patrick has migrated to where it all began, in sunny Africa. More specifically based in Hurghada city, Egypt, Mario is Head of Graphic Design during the day and resident DJ by night for both the Ministry of Sound Beach Club and the world’s only Hed Kandi Beach Bar.

Here, he plays a wide selection of house music to the regular touristic crowds descending on Egypt's Red Sea coastline. Holding down weekly residencies every Thursday at Ministry of Sound's ‘Summer Sessions’ and every Saturday night at Hed Kandi's ‘Twisted Disco’ – he stays true to his underground roots.
